Charter Group Objectives
The objectives of the Charter Group were agreed at the inaugural meeting and set out in its Constitution.
They are:
To campaign for the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty in order to secure the adoption of the Charter of Fundamental Rights in European Union primary law, and as part of the continuing process of building a Social Europe.
The Group shall also campaign for the full implementation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights in Irish domestic law.
The Group will promote the benefits for Ireland of European Union membership, and also the Union's success as a 20th century peace project in bringing peace and democracy throughout the continent of Europe.
